Panch Kedar refers to five Hindu temples or holy places of the Shivaite sect dedicated to god Shiva. They are located in the Garhwal Himalayan region in Uttarakhand, India. They are the subject of many legends that directly link their creation to Pandavas, the heroes of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.

The five temples designated in the strict pecking order to be followed for pilgrimage for worship are the Kedarnath at an altitude of 3,583 Meter , the Tungnath 3,680 Meter , Rudranath 2,286 Meter, Madmaheshwar 3,490 M and Kalpeshwar 2,200 M. The Kedarnath is the main temple.

The Garhwal region is also called the Kedar-Khanda after Kedar — the local name for Lord Shiva. The region abounds in emblems and aniconic forms of Shiva sect of Lord Shiva, much more than the Vaishnava sect. The western part of this region in particular, which constitutes half of Chamoli district being known as Kedar-Kshetra or Kedar mandala, encompasses in its ambit all the five temples constituting the Panch Kedar.

Shree Kedarnath Temple:

This place has one of the 12 forms of Lord Shiva as “jyotirlingas”, which was dropped on the hills of Mandar (The main location of temple). Shree Tungnath Temple:

Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in Rudraprayag district, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The Tunganath mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys.Tungnath trek is short and easy, which runs parallel to the high-altitude Himalayan Treks. Shree Rudranath Temple:

Rudranath is a Hindu temple dedicated to god Shiva, located in the Garhwal Himalayan mountains in Uttarakhand, India. Shree Madmashwar Temple:

Madmaheshwar is a Hindu temple dedicated to god Shiva, located in the Goundar village of Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand, India. Situated at an elevation of 3,497 m (11,473.1 ft), Ukhimath is winter seat of Madmaheswar, It is the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit, comprising five Shiva temples in the Garhwal region. The other temples in the circuit include: Kedarnath, Tungnath and Rudranath to be visited before Madmaheshwar and Kalpeshwar to be visited after Madmaheshwar. The middle (madhya) or belly part or navel (nabhi) of the Shiva, is worshipped at this temple, believed to be built by the Pandavas, the survivors of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.

Shree Kalpeshwar Temple:

Kalpeshwar is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva located at an elevation of 2,200 m (7,217.8 ft) in the picturesque Urgam valley in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state in India. The temple's ancient legend linked to the Pandavas, heroes of epic Mahabharata eminence is the fifth temple of the Panch Kedars (five temples) of Shiva's five anatomical divine forms; the other four temples in the order of their worship are Kedarnath, Rudranath, Tungnath and Madhyamaheshwar temples.Kalpeshwar is the only Panch Kedar temple accessible throughout the year. At this small stone temple, approached through a cave passage, the matted tress (jata) of Lord Shiva is worshipped. Hence, Lord Shiva is also called as Jatadhar or Jateshwar.

ITINERARY-:

Day 01: Haridwar to Guptakashi ( 204 Km/ 6-7 hrs)

Arrival at Haridwar Railway station pick-up & drive to Guptakashi Overnight stay in Guptakashi.

Day 02: Guptakashi to Kedarnath Temple. (33 km by Road / Treking 18 km )

Early in the morning after having breakfast proceed to Gaurikund. Start trek from Gaurikund to kedarnath either by walk or by poly at own cost. Reach kedarnath check in tent. Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

Day 03: Kedarnath to Guptakashi (33 km by Road/ Treking 18 km )

Early in the morning visit kedarnath temple. After that we are ready to come back to Gaurikund by walk. Late evening we reached in Guptakashi. Overnight stay in Guptakashi.

Day 04: Guptakashi to Gaundhar (50 km by Road / Treking 2 km)

On that day we are proceed our journey to Gaundhar. Overnight stay in Gaundhar. On the dinner you can enjoy the local food taste.

Day 05: Gaundhar to Madhmaheshwar (Treking 10 km)

After having breakfast we are start our trek to Madhmaheshwar. You can also take horse at own cost. Late evening we reached in Madhmaheshwar. Madhyamaheshwar or Madmaheshwar temple is a Hindu shrine, dedicated to the Lord Shiva. The temple was built by the Pandavas. Overnight stay in Madhmaheshwar.

Day 06: Madhmaheshwar to Gaundhar (Treking 10 km)

After having breakfast start trek to Gaundhar. Overnight stay at Gaundhar.

Day 07: Gaundhar to Chopta (55 km by road /Treking 2 km )

After breakfast drive to Chopta. Overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 08: Chopta -Tungnath and Tungnath – Chopta (Treking 5 km)

Early morning we start trek for Tungnath. You can also take horse at own cost. At afternoon you reached in Tungnath. Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples. After darshan we are start our return trek to Chopta. Overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 09: Chopta to Sagar Village via Gopeshwar (45 km/ 2 hrs)

On that day we are start our journey from chopta to Sagar village. Enroute we visit Gopinath Temple. Overnight stay in Sagar village.

Day 10: Sagar village to Panar Bugyal (12 km Treking)

Early in the morning after having breakfast we are start our trek to Panar Bugyal. You pack your bag with necessary trek equipments. Overnight stay in Panar Bugyal.

Day 11: Panar Bugyal to Rudranath (8 km Treking)

On that day after having breakfast we start return trekking from Panar Bugyal to Sagar Village. Overnight stay in Sagar Villlage.

Day 12: Sagar Village to Helang (60 km/ 3 Hrs)

On that day after having breakfast we start return trekking from Panar Bugyal to Sagar Village. Overnight stay in Sagar Villlage.

Day 13: Sagar Village to Helang (60 km/ 3 Hrs)

Next day early in the morning after having breakfast we are ready to drive from Sagar Village to Helang. From urgam village we start our 2 km trek to reach in Kalpeshwar temple. After darshan we start return trek to reach in Helang. Overnight stay in Helang.

Day 14: Helang to Srinagar Garhwal (140 km/ 5 Hrs)

After having breakfast we drive from Helang to Srinagar Garhwal. Enroute we visit karanprayag sangam (Confluence of Pindar River and Alaknanda River), Rudprayag Sangam (confluence of Alaknanda River) Dhari Devi Temple. Overnight stay in Srinagar Garhwal.

Day 15: Srinagar Garhwal to Haridwar (130 km/ 3 Hrs)

Morning after breakfast & drive to Haridwar.on arrival at Haridwar & drop at Railway station.
